Well Dressed Maternity Month 5

By month 5 you are certainly starting to show!
Hopefully, the outfits that you created in months three and four are still working for you to some extent, but they probably won’t for much longer!
(Not without a bit of tweaking at least)
Now is the time to plan ahead for the real changes in your body and wardrobe.
Now it’s time to do some real maternity shopping.
It’s important that you plan out a usable and versatile wardrobe capsule that will work seamlessly for your life over the next several months.
Think about a few factors:
What is your present day to day life like? Do you live in jeans or do you dress for the office five days a week? If your life takes more than one level of dress you may need to create more than one maternity capsule.
Start with the Basics.
These should be selected first and can help supplement those outfits from months 3 and 4 that you have already put together. I like to start with the three bottom five top formula of versatile pieces that can be easily mixed and matched. For these to work the simpler the better.
It’s important that you get pieces that fit you now with room for growth.
Theoretically your maternity size should be the same as your regular size, but try things on. If clothes are snug in month 5, they may not fit right in months 7, 8 or 9.
Or pants and skirts there are several waist band styles to choose from. Remember every woman is different and will have different preferences. (Don’t just choose a style because your sister in law told you it was the best. That may be have been true for her, but you may not have the same experience.)
I generally found that curvier woman with a shorter waist preferred a soft waist band that curved under the belly. Longer waisted women with a straighter hip preferred the built in belly band.
Tops are much easier to figure out the fit for. I suggest finding simple styles in neutrals you wear and in colors you love. You can interest with accessories and other layers helping these pieces stretch their usefulness.
A great basic dress and a couple of neutral shells are also useful additions to a basic and versatile maternity capsule wardrobe.
Once you have figured out your basics it is time to add some stylish pieces that have some more personality. These pieces can be added a bit at a time. Pieces like Jackets, interesting cardigans, vests, or a stylish skirt can add interest to an outfit. Each piece should have personality and be something you love to wear.
Remember that you do not need a lot of pieces.
Every woman I talked with confessed that no matter how much maternity clothes they had, they ended up with two or three Go-To outfits that they lived in during the second half of their pregnancy. They all agreed that they did wear at least a third of what they bought and really only wore the few outfits they not only loved but were comfortable and easy.
So, take your time when shopping for your maternity wardrobe. Don’t buy a lot but buy wisely.
Make sure the outfits you get are perfect for you. Beware that there is not as much selection in the maternity world, but if you do a bit of planning there is a way to have fun with your looks, love what you have, and look your best throughout your pregnancy
